Upgrading on a budget

Home upgrades can seem excruciatingly expensive and daunting, but they don’t have to be. We've got some ideas to liven things up, and more importantly its stuff you can implement over time to give any of your rooms some much desired pizzazz!

Add more Colour

Ever considered a colour change? If you feel like your rooms are looking dull and uninspired, adding paint (or repainting) is one of the least expensive ways to revitalize a room. A new layer of paint can make a room seem brighter or darker, depending on the look you’re going for, and is a great way to add interest and texture. If you don’t have time or money to paint, you can also breathe new life into the space with colorful pillows, rugs, lampshades and other decor.

Reupholster Furniture

If you have infinite budgets, then you can afford to replace furniture every time it starts to get dingy. For everyone else working on saving money, your best bet would be to reupholster your existing pieces. Reupholstery can bring certain types of furniture (usually fabrics) back to life. It also allows you to change the look and feel of your furniture for a fraction of the cost of a new piece. If you can have a clear idea of what you have in mind, then you can do this yourself. If you aren’t certain about what you want, or need guidance, you can generally hire a professional upholsterer to help (talk to us)

Organize Your Kitchen

We strongly believe that everything should be easy to find in your kitchen. If you have to reach for certain items or spend 5 minutes trying to remember where you kept something, your kitchen probably needs better organization. We suggest you start by eliminating your pantry of expired or unused items. This may seem basic, but one super easy way to make it easier to find what you need is to label shelves. And how about installing a lazy Susan in the dining table to save yourself some trouble in the future? Here’s a great one we think you’d like.

Last but not least, you can repaint the cabinets. If your kitchen cabinets have a dated finish or you want a more personal touch, think about adding color here too! Have any other ideas on how you can upgrade your home on a budget? Share them with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
